Carol Leaman, President & CEO
Carol Leaman is the CEO of Axonify Inc., a disruptor in the corporate learning space and innovator behind the world’s first Employee Knowledge Platform—proven to increase employee knowledge and performance necessary for achieving targeted business results. Prior to Axonify, Carol was the CEO of PostRank Inc., a social engagement analytics company that she sold to Google in June 2011. Previously, Carol held CEO positions at several other technology firms, including RSS Solutions and Fakespace Systems. Carol is a frequent speaker, a regular contributor to Fortune magazine and a well-respected thought leader, whose articles appear in various learning, business and technology publications. She also sits on the boards of many organizations, both charitable and for-profit, and advises a variety of high-tech firms in Canada’s technology triangle.
Carol has won multiple awards, including the Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Intrepid Award (2011) and the Sarah Kirke Award (2010) for Canada’s leading female entrepreneur and she is a finalist for the Techvibes Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2017).
Christine Tutssel, SVP of Strategic Initiatives
Christine Tutssel is Axonify’s SVP of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Christine leads the process of evaluating prospective business and partnership targets, and personally managing large strategic accounts for Axonify. With over 25 years of sales and sales management experience in the high-tech industry, Christine has worked in a variety of market sectors including finance, banking, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, transportation and logistics, and retail.
Prior to Axonify, Christine spent two years assisting tech start-ups in building and executing their sales and go-to-market strategies. Previously, she was Vice President of Sales at Covarity, a software provider specializing in enterprise solutions for the banking industry. Before Covarity, Christine spent seven years at Descartes Systems Group, a leading provider of software and network based solutions for transportation and logistics, where she held a variety of sales and sales management roles.
Christine is a committed community volunteer and is most active with the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Basketball Association and the Canadian Cancer Society. She resides in Waterloo, Ontario with her family and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Dave Pooley, Chief Financial Officer
Dave is responsible for Axonify’s accounting and finance functions. He works closely with the company’s investment groups, provides contract support to the sales team, manages the annual budget and pro-forma forecast, and oversees accounting and tax reporting requirements.
Dave brings more than 10 years of accounting and finance experience to Axonify from both private and public organizations. Prior to Axonify, Dave spent 6 years working with early stage technology companies, consulting on finance and accounting matters as well as managing successful acquisitions to large global technology leaders. During this time, Dave was also the accounting and finance mentor at the Accelerator Center—a world-renowned, award-winning network of facilities dedicated to developing and commercializing technology startups. Earlier in his career, Dave held various public accounting roles.
Dave holds a CPA, CA and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Joe Wagner, Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Joe is responsible for ensuring Axonify scales from a mid-sized technology company into a global enterprise. With more than 20 years of leadership and executive experience in the software and SaaS industry, Joe will be working with the team to build strength across the organization and optimize Axonify’s go-to-market strategy.
Joe started his early career in technical roles, then moved on to sales and senior management positions, where he gained a reputation for building, managing and energizing high performance teams of all sizes. Prior to Axonify, Joe was SVP of international business and global channels and alliances at GT Nexus, the world’s largest cloud-based commerce platform. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales at E2open and a public company officer for Novell, a global software leader for enterprises worldwide, where he spent seven years in a range of senior leadership positions including Global Operations and GM of Novell’s Systems and Resource Management Business. Over the course of his career, he helped turn around a $1 billion business from -5% to +16% EBITDA, growing a key division by 10% and doubling enterprise value. Wagner also drove revenue growth through his direct field leadership of over $100 million in revenue, led top tier alliances responsible for over $400 million in sales, and maintained operational leadership of over $1 billion in global sales.
Joe volunteers to mentor and coach entrepreneurs and startups. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.
Phil Menary, Vice President of Development
Phil brings over 20 years of experience to his leadership role and is responsible for the Axonify technology architecture, all aspects of product strategy and managing software development.
Prior to Axonify, Phil held the role of Director, Software Engineering at Sandvine. Previously, Phil was Vice President of Engineering at LiveHive Systems, Vice President at Diskstream and Director of Software Development at RSS Solutions, where he helped migrate their client/server based solution to an n-tiered enterprise solution. He was also instrumental in arranging a successful corporate acquisition by a larger U.S. firm. In his impressive career, Phil has held positions as Technical Specialist at Sun Life and as Director of Software Development for CheckFree Corp.
Phil is Chairman of the Board for Mornington Communications Co-op and holds a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario.

Laura Martin, Vice President of Marketing
Laura is responsible for building and executing Axonify’s marketing strategy, and brings over 20 years of experience in B2B technology marketing, specializing in early- to mid-stage organizations. Before joining Axonify, Laura headed the marketing team at Covarity Inc., where she was responsible for launching and executing all aspects of marketing into the financial services industry.
Laura also held senior management roles at LiveHive Solutions, a digital media solution, RSS Solutions, a manufacturing software organization and Ironside Technologies, a B2B e-commerce company.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, and is a co-founder of Avonova, a local technology group.
Suzanne Hyatt, Vice President of Human Resources
Suzanne is responsible for building and executing Axonify’s human capital strategy. With 15+ years’ experience, Suzanne specializes in organizational design and development, building and developing high performance teams, developing leading practices in the attraction and retention of talent, the creation of total rewards strategies, and the management of organizational change.
Prior to joining Axonify, Suzanne was Vice President Human Resources with Rebellion Media (Digital Media) where she led change initiatives and human resources and people planning during a growth by acquisition strategy involving acquisition of 12 businesses in new media and technology over an 18 month period. Previous to that she was Vice President Human Resources with Tech Capital Partners (Venture Capital).
Suzanne holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo, a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Conestoga College and has obtained the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. Suzanne is certified in The Birkman Method and Thomas Disc International personality assessment tools, is an active HR leadership mentor and has acted in an advisory capacity for many early stage technology businesses.
Craig Wahl, Vice President of Client Experience
Craig is responsible for Professional Services, Support and Customer Success at Axonify, ensuring the company’s clients successfully launch and receive the ongoing support they need to achieve ongoing success. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the technology sector, holding various management roles in sales and customer support.
Prior to joining Axonify, Craig was VP, Customer Support at D2L Corporation. In this role, Craig maintained oversight responsibility for customer success and client support, which were integral to D2L’s growth from 60 to 900 employees.
Craig also spent four years in a sales and support management role at One-Eighty Corp (now owned by CDK Global), helping to grow the company by more than 300%. His depth of services and support experience stems from working in various industries—including education, automotive, healthcare and telecommunications—as well as from servicing organizations across the globe.
Andrea Curry, Vice President of Product Management
Andrea is responsible for partnering with customers to define Axonify’s product roadmap and product direction. Andrea is an accomplished technology executive with eighteen years of experience designing, marketing, selling and delivering game-changing technology solutions. Andrea started her career with Accenture as a management consultant and then migrated to software companies like Workbrain (Infor), Symantec and, lastly, SHIFT Energy, where she was the creator of a technology-centric approach that trims energy waste from buildings.
Past key clients include Brookfield, Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, EllisDon, Symantec, Telus, CN Rail, NBPower, University Health Network, Shared Services (BC), Wyeth Ayerst, Sprint Canada, Alcan, Ministry of Community and Social Services (Ontario), Target, The TJX Companies, Holt Renfrew, AMC Theatres, General Mills, Lifespan, American Airlines and Delphi Automotive.
In her spare time, Andrea is a sustainability promoter and advocate for the planet.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick and is presently enrolled in the TRIUM Global Executive MBA program.
Joe Gelata, Vice President of Business Operations
Joe is responsible for generating data-driven insights from across the organization then developing and implementing enhanced business processes that will allow Axonify to scale into a global enterprise. He brings with him an innovative model that combines Insights, Tools, and Operations teams into a centralized unit.
Prior to joining Axonify, Joe spent the past decade in Sales, Marketing, and Operations within technology companies – from early stage startups to the world’s largest software providers. This includes client side engagements with Vidyard and Sybase (an SAP Company) plus a successful exit with Singapore based agency, Verticurl, where he helped build their North American operations and global client strategy before being acquired by OgilvyOne (a WPP company). Here he consulted for companies including Salesforce, Adobe, Lenovo, Motorola Solutions, and Western Digital.
Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Psychology from York University and a post-graduate diploma in Marketing Management from Humber College.
